About the Position: The Medical Assistant Laboratory Skills Instructor plays a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of healthcare professionals. Under the direction of the Program Director, you will teach theory and practical applications in classroom, clinical practicum, simulation, and skills laboratory settings. The role includes managing student progress, mentoring, and providing hands-on instruction. This position is ideal for a passionate healthcare professional with a strong background in medical assisting and a desire to inspire and educate students.

Responsibilities:
Teach assigned classes using prescribed courses of study and instructional materials.
Supervise students in laboratory and clinical settings, providing hands-on instruction and demonstrations.
Assess student competency through return demonstrations and provide constructive feedback.
Manage simulation scenarios and evaluate student responses.
Maintain classroom and laboratory environments in good physical order.
Order and manage medical supplies for laboratory experiences.
Provide CPR instruction in accordance with American Heart Association guidelines.
Skills Taught:
Patient communication and relations
Phlebotomy (venous and capillary draws, centrifuge)
Triage, critical thinking, and patient documentation
Point of care testing and lab specimen preparation
General and specialized examination assistance
Medication administration and sterile technique
Requirements:
Degree or post-secondary education and experience meeting state (TWC) and ABHES accreditation standards.
Minimum of 3-5 years of practical experience (teaching experience preferred).
Current certification, registration, or licensure as a Medical Assistant, Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), Registered Nurse (RN), or Medical Doctor (M.D.).
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider-Instructor Certification through the American Heart Association.
